Are you a Sponsor or one who “Signs Up a Prospect?”

I heard this story at a Send out Cards Seminar in 2010 and it resonated with me. We believe there is a huge difference between a leader that Sponsors a prospect into their business and a leader who signs a prospect up.

Here is the difference as illustrated by a mother Eagle who is teaching their off spring to fly for the first time. When the eaglets feels it is ready for the maiden flight the mother will nudge it out of the nest and those little wings will flap and flap and flap but the baby eaglets keeps falling. But before it hits the ground, the mother soars down under the eaglet and lets it land softly on her back, then returns it to the nest.

Step two is the same process and when the wings of the eaglet are strong enough, it flees on its own; no longer does the mother need to fly under it for support.

We liken our Sponsorship as to the mother Eagle. We are there to support the prospect as long as necessary to gain the confidence to go it on their own. We do the same for our preferred customers that use our web sites to purchase their products at our preferred prices.

Therefore we sponsor Leaders and Preferred Customers; we do not “sign you up.” We believe this is much better.

This is your invitation to join our team.

Lets start with retail… do you just want to buy at wholesale and sell at retail?

That’s OK if your plan is to profit on an item by item basis, some products have very good margins and direct sales can and will generate a large income. In this case you might choose a product that you have high regard for and market it. On the other hand if your choice is to go for the residual then your focus needs to be on building a team of Customers and leaders with reputable products or services that consumers will purchase over and over again.

Here is another contriversal statement; I do not believe that a person should be sponsored at their first “business opportunity meeting” with one exception. That exception being that IF the opportunity, business model and compensation plan is so simple that it is grasped on the first look go for it.

More likely than not, research will be required and you “the investor” need to be sure on the points mentioned earlier. There are a couple of free resources that I recommend that new prospects read before they make a decision. These are www.mentoringforfree.com, passcode cmeminso, download the free e-book. The second resource is www.mlmthewholetruth.com. Sign up for the free newsletter. Other free resources are available on the web, just be sure that the resource is NOT promoting their product otherwise it will be biased and effectively useless.

I personally do not agree with all of the authors recommendations but there are many fundamental points that I do agree with. One author is rigid on single stream for instance, the other is involved with multi stream as are we. One says run from a binary compensation plan and the other says binary is easy to build. The bottom line, do your research.

1.	Many are solid companies, some are not.
2.	Some are mature, some in growth, some building Monte mum and some start up.
3.	A good company has investors behind it.
4.	Products that are to your liking and that consumer both want and use over and over again.
5.	Available training.
6.	You can have freedom of time.
7.	A good company can provide financial freedom.
8.	Most companies do not require you to carry inventory although in some cases you may want to as a benefit to your client.
9.	Corporate management will be monitoring Market and industry trends and will be implementing new products and services to maintain market share.
10.	Corporate has the warranties, you have a back-office to manage your business.
11.	Corporate has the customer service centers.
12.	A replicated website for you to use when sponsoring associates.
13.	Many will have a finance plan for your customers.
14.	A good company will have a solid corporate team, good business background and will be well versed in network marketing.
15.	A good company will have a compensation plan that will reward the field for their efforts and will be based on effort applied. More on this later, critical, critical, critical.
16.	These comments are my opinion, based on experience, speaking with successful high income earners and research by many who have much more experience than we do.
17.	Most will also have a decent compensation plan but a caution, you as an investor (time and money) in the company must understand and believe you can benefit from the plan. I can not emphasize this enough. It’s your time, money and credibility. They have the inventory, a finance plan, customer service, shipping capabilities etc, you as the investor do not have to be concerned with that aspect of the business.
18.	On the other hand, we have been in some “not so reputable” companies. Either the products did not live up to the advertising OR the compensation plan just did not allow the investor to earn an income. There are all sorts of plans out there, I am not going to attempt to describe them here other that to give you a BUYER BEWARE CAUTION. Some that you will hear about include: Binary, Hybrid Binary, Hybrid, Matrix-Forced-Spill Over-Compression, Uni-level, Fast Start Bonus’s etc, etc.

I am not a fan of fast start bonus’s mainly because that implies that you the investor are really working a JOB instead of a business and you need to recruit, recruit, recruit to earn the bonus. I am of the old school, retail profit and residual income. Residual income is that what you earn over and over for the effort invested one time. That’s for me and it implies building a strong team or customer base or both. Just my opinion.

Why choose a network company?
A decision that YOU need to make, do you want to work FROM your home or do you want to work AT your home? There is a big message in those two little words, AT and FROM. You can work many businesses FROM your home. Some that come to mind are a construction business, a real estate salesperson, perhaps a graphics company etc. Realize though that most of your activity will be elsewhere and not at your home.

On the other hand you might have a network business that you can truly spend most of your time AT your home by using the internet, phones and other electronic devices. These will also require “eyeball” time but it could be minimum. A caution, do not believe that all network companies are AT home businesses because they are not. You may have to take your products to the client, workplace meetings or group meetings in the evening. You will need to make the decision whether this will meet YOUR objectives.

Have you often wondered what an entrepreneur is? Do you think you already might be one? We did. Basic definition….An individual that starts an enterprise with the intent that it flourishes, becomes profitable and provides financial freedom for those working it. You might say then that we all have a little entrepreneur spirit. That will probably be a correct statement: But do YOU have the courage to take the next step? Take the self assessment survey and see how you stack up.
